What Florida requires
The standard every teacher here meets.
SWREA is an approved Step Up For Students partner school, so the state holds our classroom to these rules.
Qualified to teach
Every teacher at a Florida scholarship school must hold a bachelor's degree or higher, have at least three years of classroom experience, or bring special skills or expertise in the subjects they teach. That is s. 1002.421(1)(h), Florida Statutes.
Background screened
Every employee with direct student contact must pass background screening under Florida law before they start, and is let go if they fail it. That is s. 1002.421(1)(m).
Known by name
With twelve children to a teacher, the adults in the room know every child, and every parent, by name.
